This collection of papers contains reports, letters, memorandums, and speeches of William H. Zeigel. The papers focus on administrative matters including staff recruitment, transfer studies, test scores and high school rank, teacher education and curriculum, student teaching, retention, reinstatement, registration, placement, grades, black student studies, and admission. No personal papers are included.

Biographical / Historical
William H. Zeigel (December 21, 1904-May 8, 2006) was born in Dearborn, Missouri and received master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Missouri. He held positions in Washington DC and at the Nebraska State College at Kearney (1928-1937) before coming to Eastern Illinois State Teachers College in 1937 as a professor of Education. Appointments held at EIU included acting Director of Public Relations; Director of Student Personnel and Admissions; Director of Placement; Associate Dean of Teacher Education; Dean of Student Academic Services; and Vice President for Administration. He retired in 1971. Zeigel joined Rotary International in 1932 and was active in the organization for the next 72 years.
