Biography

Quincy Von Ogden Doudna (1907-1987) served as president from 1956 to 1971. It was a period of rapid growth on campus. Under his leadership, the campus grew from 190 acres and 11 permanent buildings to 316 acres and 35 major facilities. He oversaw the construction of the Life Sciences Building, Klehm and Coleman Halls, and an expansion of the library. The Doudna Fine Arts Center is named for him. Born in 1907, Doudna received a Ph.D. in education from the University of Wisconsin. Before coming to Eastern, he served as dean of administration at Wisconsin State College.
